Amarillo and Oklahoma City
We drove from Albuquerque to Amarillo- fighting wind the whole way!
We stayed one night just outside Amarillo at the Oasis RV Resort:
You have to laugh! The next morning we passed a lot of windmills in eastern Texas- here is a look at the old and the new:
We also passed the leaning water tower of Britten:
We passed into Oklahoma:
OK- I admit I didn’t get a pic of the normal sign, this is at a rest area that had tourist info. Interestingly, they had a group from Elk City, a town about 30 miles east of the rest area, giving out cookies and information about their city! Additionally, if you bought anything at the gift shop in the rest area, you got a bag full of brochures and cards for various businesses- I guess that’s a way to drum up business. They also had this fun item at the rest area:
Yep- that’s our truck and trailer in the background. Unfortunately we were just here 1 night, because one of the travel books I got on Oklahoma City shows a lot of interesting and fun things to do- I think we will have to spend more time here next time!
As we left the next day we saw this cool freeway overpass:
Yep- Oklahoma City looks interesting! Next time…
