Goosenecks

Goosenecks State Park was created by the San Juan River twisting its way for millions of years, carving this 1100 foot deep gorge.

These turns in the river go on and on- 12 miles by kayak, but only 5 miles as the crow flies! Here is another picture that shows a bit more:

It’s difficult to see the other “goosenecks” because of the cliffs, but it is amazing to see what water can do to the land!

Goosenecks State Park is small, and we visited on the same day we went to Natural Bridges National Monument. But it is worth a visit!
