Go West, young man!
We have started our journey towards home, turning west and into Tennessee. We went through a little bit of Virginia to get from North Carolina to Tennessee:

And keeping with that love theme, this was at the rest area/ visitor information center:

We are staying in a campground in Baileyton, and are happy to have seen our friends Alice and Bob! We had a wonderful spaghetti dinner with them and their friends Sue and Keith, and then played Mexican Train, a dominoes game. We had a great time and enjoyed catching up, and are looking forward to seeing them again before we leave this area!
We have driven around looking at lots for a day and a half, and have reached the conclusion that a lot that is somewhat level and has utilities will cost a lot. We saw some nice ones that were half an acre or less for $85,000-$100,000. That’s a little more than we wanted to pay, but if you go cheaper, the lot won’t have utilities, probably covered with trees that will have to be cleared, will be in the boonies, and will be much steeper than we want. Sigh- nothing is easy!
We did see several deer as we were driving around, including this mama and her 2 babies:

We are going to visit a 55+ community tomorrow to see what they have to offer- fingers crossed!
This year we have definitely seen fewer fireflies in delaware. We just started seeing them around July 4.
