Lazy days and Lightning bugs

We have been a little boring the past 2 days, so there isn’t a lot to share. Yesterday we went back to Jackson to look around, and also checked out the small town of Medina, about 12 miles from Jackson. We found some pretty houses that are new construction, but the prices were in the high $400,000 to high $500,000, and they were in developments with HOAs and smaller lots, so we would have to find storage for the trailer. As we drive around we see houses that are not in housing developments but that are on a few acres and face the roads- even 4-lane highways!

All these homes face a 4-major lane roadway (we would call it a highway in Cali, here they just call it a 4-lane), and are set back 50-150 yards. And the lawns are all mowed beautifully! I think Jerry wants something like this so he can get a riding lawn mower 😉

We went out last night to see the meteor shower, and as we searched for somewhere dark (they have the best and brightest street lights here) we learned the difference between a road and a lane- apparently a road is 2 lanes wide and goes somewhere, and a lane is really a long driveway to someone’s house, and it is 1-vehicle wide so you can’t turn around until you are to the house- we won’t make that mistake again! We didn’t see any meteors, but we did see lightning bugs- very cool!

Today we took it easy, went out to Scott’s for BBQ for lunch, which is supposed to be one of the best BBQ places in Tennessee, and we have a split decision. I got a pulled pork sandwich with vinegar slaw and potato salad. I was not a fan of the slaw, but the sandwich was very good and HUGE with so much pulled pork, and the sauce and potato salad were delish! Jerry got a side of ribs- 15 ribs for $6.00! Yep- you read that right! And there weren’t small either- we joked he was eating brontosaurus! He thought they could have had a stronger smoke flavor, but they were certainly a great buy So we give 5 stars for value and 3.5-4 stars for flavor! We returned the rental car (saved sooooo much on fuel!), went swimming, and are now getting everything ready to leave for our next stop in the morning. Jerry just called me outside- the lightning bugs are getting started- so fun to see! Tomorrow we go to Sweetwater!
