Time Flies when you are having fun!
I realized today that we have been on the road for 2 week– it seems more like 1!
We took it easy today- we really are done with exploring this part of Tennessee, except for going to Memphis, and frankly we did not feel like driving 2 hours each way! On top of that, with this being Sunday, lots of things are closed. So we went to Johnsonville State Park, and walked around, enjoying the sunshine and seeing some civil war exhibits. The park is right on the Tennessee River, so there were great views of the river:
The Tennessee River has been dammed in a few places to create hydroelectric plants, and that creates wider spots in the river. This one is called Kentucky Lake, and you can see how big it is by the picture of this huge barge:
We also drove through the Natchez Trace State Park, which has a little beach (complete with white sand) for swimming. The have rental pedal boats, canoes, kayaks, etc., so we may go there tomorrow to cool off- it’s supposed to be 86 tomorrow, with 65% humidity, so I think we are going to need to be cool! Temp today was 84 and humidity was 49%, and it wasn’t bad- better in the shade, but definitely doable. Not sure about 65%, though!
