Exploring Maryville

Today we got a rental car and drove around Maryville and Alcoa- small cities south of Knoxville. The Knoxville airport is in Alcoa, and Maryville runs into it. Maryville seems to have a lot of what we are looking for, and the prices are lower than Jackson. There seems to be a lot of traffic, though, which makes us wonder: Does it seem like the traffic is heaver than at home because it is, or because we don’t know where we are going and so are driving a little slower? We drove by LOTS of really big homes- way out of our price range, but gorgeous!

While driving back to the campground this afternoon, we could tell a storm was coming:

And about 15 minutes later it poured! We had windshield wipers on high and they couldn’t keep up! There was even a National Weather Service alert warning about quarter-size hail, thunderstorms and rain, but luckily it was to the west of us. Rain stopped by the time we got to the campground, and Jerry did a little trailer maintenance/upgrades in the humidity before we went out for dinner.

Guess what happened on the way back from dinner- IT POURED! Windshield wipers did their best, but they weren’t really up to the task. When we got to the campground, we sat in the car for 15 minutes waiting for it to let up a bit-

This is a picture of the truck with the trailer behind it, taken through the windshield of the rental car- the truck is about 10 feet away. We finally made a run through the rain, and had to go through puddles- my sandals are soaked!

Low chance of rain tomorrow, and we are meeting with a real estate agent who has been sending us daily emails for the past 6 months- we figure the inside scoop may help!
