Last day in Chuckey
We were awakened this morning at 5:00 to a LOUD boom of thunder- it shook the trailer! And it happened again at 6:00! We move to Sevierville tomorrow, so of course it had to rain today. It didn’t just rain- it poured, with thunder and lightning- not something we see too often in Bakersfield!
We went to Troyer’s Market this morning- it’s a wonderful small market with a great deli, bakery, and lots of unusual things you don’t normally see. We got some small fruit pies (think Hostess but 1000 times better!), Amish butter and some amazing freshly made (while you are in line) and huge donuts:
These are so big that Jerry and I share one! These are going in the freezer so we will still have them for breakfast for the next several days! They also make amazing pretzels- we have a couple of those in the freezer too!
We met our friends, Alice and Bob, for lunch today- the ribs were terrific, but being able to spend more time with them was the real prize. We cannot thank them enough for their generosity, taking time to show us around, give us tips on towns, and tell us about great restaurants– thanks, Bob and Alice, you are great friends!
The rest of the day was pretty easy, doing laundry (it never ends, even on vacation) and getting ready to move on tomorrow (making sure everything is in its place and buttoned down.)
We had a lovely visit with our campground neighbors- they have the same trailer we do, except theirs is a half a year younger- we compared the differences in the looks of the trailers, and got some leads on places to eat here and in the vicinity of our next stop, as well as the names of real estate agents- yay!
We are leaving Lazy Llama campground in the morning, so I had to take one last picture:
They came running when I walked over- so funny!
And here are a couple of pictures of the sunset tonight- we are hoping this indicates good weather tomorrow!
And just a bit later:
