Clarksville, Paris and BBQ

We took the first drive to Clarksville… but we didn’t see the station…. then we traveled all the way to Paris… Tennessee, that is!

We got an early start this morning and drove to Clarksville, which is on the border with Kentucky. It is a growing city, and was named the best place to live by Money Magazine in 2019- so we thought we would check it out. We looked at some open houses and did some searching on Realtor.com, but housing prices are a lot higher than other areas of Tennessee- and maybe even higher than in Bakersfield! As we drove around the city we found it to be bit scattered, with no real organization in terms of where things are. It is next to the Cumberland River, which was very nice, but it’s not the place for us. After spending several hours in Clarksville (and we didn’t see the train station– think of the Monkee’s song) we went to Paris – Tennessee! First we drove across the Tennessee River and the area called Land Between the Lakes, which was beautiful and very large and wide.

Then on to Paris, a small city of just over 10,000. It has a beautiful park, with a community pool, a huge splash zone for small kids, 2 really nice playgrounds, tennis, pickleball, a walking path, AND- a replica of the Eiffel Tower!

I previously mentioned how you may see a very nice house next to a single-wide trailer– well, here in the small city of Paris there were 3 mobile home dealers! There was also a 3-block area of town with beautiful mansions, so it seems they have a very diverse housing market.

We went to Trolingers, a store/gas station/deli/meat market/bbq place for dinner. My pulled pork sandwich was good, but Jerry’s ribs were kind of dry- we will need to keep looking for awesome BBQ! Yesterday we tried to go to a nearby place that is supposed to be one of the best bbq places in TN, but by the time we got there at 3:30, they were sold out 🙁 We will have to try again!
