First, the price of fuel is cheaper than at home- thank goodness! These are the prices at a truck stop:

We haven’t been to Texas in MANY years and forgot one important thing: Many (most) places are closed on Sunday! We wanted to go to the RV Museum- closed. Classic Car Museum- closed. Space Museum- closed. Natural History Museum- closed. We did see a couple roadside attractions:

The 2nd Amendment Cowboy has a quote from George Washington about the importance of the right to keep and bear arms- this is Texas! He’s huge, about 22 feet tall- those are real restored old Cadillac cars behind him! We also visited the Cadillac Ranch, which has 10 Cadillac cars buried nose first in a field. They are open for graffiti, and they even sell spray paint on-site! It was pretty windy, so we did not spray paint, but plenty of people were painting, and the fumes were awful! We didn’t paint, although Karel did have a sharpie:
There is so much paint on these cars that they have the texture of alligator skin and in some places it looks like it is melting off in large sheets!

After going to Camping World to replace the lost sewer hose, we found an Indian Cultural Museum that was open for a few hours, so we visited it and then looked for somewhere to eat dinner- you guessed it, most restaurants were closed! We finally found a Cracker Barrel that was open, so had an early dinner before it closed at 7:00. Tonight we’ll get everything ready for travel day tomorrow so we can run and get our leveling system part (fingers crossed it comes in first thing in the morning!), swap out the broken one, and hit the road- next stop, a campground near Oklahoma City, where we are expecting rain. And there’s nothing like setting up or packing up in the rain! 🙁
