Tennessee!!

Back in Tennessee! We drove across the Mississippi and were in Memphis:

Memphis has an interesting skyline as you cross the Mississippi:

We kept driving into Central Tennessee, where we stayed at Pin Oak Lake campground in the Natchez Trace State Park.  We were there for 2 days, and it was so peaceful and beautiful!

It did rain buckets both nights, complete with thunder and lightning- always an exciting time for us Californians!  We watched the storm come in our first evening:

We went into Lexington to get BBQ at Scott’s, one of the best whole-hog barbecue places in the world.  This is where they do their smoking:

We ate there last year, and it was just as good- and reasonably priced! We thought about taking a drive on the Natchez Trace, but after all the driving the 3 previous days, we decided against it. So we took it a little easy and enjoyed the peace and quiet at the campground. The next day, we were off to Eastern Tennessee! We had some more rain:

It was a little hard to see for a few minutes, but we made it to our next campground, with one stop:

Of course we went to Buc-ee’s! These are THE BEST travel stops- Huge clean bathrooms, great brisket sandwiches, and all kinds of snacks, home decor, etc. We ate our sandwiches in the truck and put the beef jerky and Beaver Nuggets (super-sweet corn puffs)up for later, then finished the drive to Sevierville!

    1. We drove an hour just to go to Buc-ees last year- had to see what all the fuss was about! Now we stop whenever we are near one!
