Homeward Bound!

We left Reno and headed home. We finally saw some pretty scenery in Nevada:

It was nice to see something other than desert! When we got a little further out of town we got into the mountains:

It was prettier and a little cooler! Then we got to California:

We were impressed that Nevada thanked us for visiting them– the only state to do so! We did find the California sign a little boring compared to the signs of other states- the least we could do is make the poppies orange!

We drove over Donner Pass and saw the Truckee River:

And then had the long boring drive down I-5. I waved at towns where some of you live- Roseville, Sacramento, towards Vacaville, Fresno- and nobody waved back! Sigh!

After about 6 hours we made it home!

The lawn is a bit worse than it was when we left May 15th, but the house was cleaner and Janelle greeted us with cherry cheesecake- who could ask for anything more? Trailer is unpacked (thanks, Janelle!), everything put away, five loads of laundry done, and the trailer is back in storage- ready for our next adventure! Jerry, Janelle and I are heading to San Diego in a few days so Janelle gets a little vacation before going back to school- and we all get to enjoy cooler weather!

We’ll post additional info and our last thoughts on this grand adventure in a couple days- stay tuned!

  1. Sad this adventure has come to an end! I really enjoyed reading all about your trip. Hope you get to head out again soon and are enjoying retirement!

    1. AWW- thanks! We had a good time, but it was pretty tiring- I am getting ready to write our final post for the trip and it will say to build in FUN time! We are starting to plan a trip to Utah to see the main national parks there- Bryce, Arches, Zion, Capitol Reef and Canyonlands. We hope to go in September or October, so stay tuned- there may be more coming! Retirement is good- sleeping late and doing whatever we want when we want is nice- like going to the beach last Monday to get out of the heat and not having to deal with the weekend crowds… Although we both have jury duty tomorrow.
