Getting Ready

There is so much to do to prepare for a trip- I am so glad we have plenty of time to get it all done!

We started planning our route and timeframes in November, and I started making all the reservations in December and finished them in early January.  We were able to get reservations at all the campgrounds we wanted except one- not bad considering we are staying at 27 different campgrounds!

We got the tires on the trailer aligned and the wheel bearings packed a few months ago- and wouldn’t you know they scraped the front of the trailer when they were moving it, so they had to get it painted. Glad we had plenty of time before this trip! Now you can’t tell there was ever a scrape.

We got new tires for the truck in April, washed and waxed both the truck and trailer (actually Jerry did all that), and I made grocery lists. I cleaned out the pantry 3 weeks before departure day, setting aside anything we would be taking so I didn’t buy things we don’t need.

We sanitized the water lines and greased the zerks (it was so much easier this time!).

I got clothes and toiletries loaded 2 days before departure (as Jerry washed the truck and trailer again ;-)) and loaded the refrigerator and freezer the day before we left.

Whew- camping with a trailer takes a lot of work! Coming next- we hit the road!
