On to New Mexico

We were happy to arrive in New Mexico- the scenery is more interesting and colorful (see pic on right), and I-40 is definitely better! Our campground has beautiful metal sculptures scattered throughout- bison, elk, horses, a stagecoach, and great wind catchers! The roads throughout the campground are nicely paved, but all the campsites are red dirt, so we have to take our shoes off outside so we don’t track it through the trailer. We found an amazing Italian restaurant on Yelp for dinner- Joe’s Pasta House. Everything was so good and huge portions- I think we are having leftovers for dinner tomorrow night!

Today we visited the Petroglyph National Monument- very cool! I took lots of pictures, but many are not very good- I need to practice my photography in bright sun! We also went to the Balloon Museum where they have the Albuquerque Balloon Festival in October- after the heat of our hike through the petroglyph field, the AC sure felt good! The museum was fun, and was mainly focused on the history of balloon flight. This picture is models of some of the balloons from the Balloon Festival. We then walked around Old Town a bit, but most of the shops close at 5:00 so it was mostly window shopping- I am pretty sure Jerry was happy about that!

The wind kicked up during the afternoon and we sure feel it in the trailer! Gusts are up to 30+ miles per hour,
